Guidelines for Establishing a WINS Working Group

The Berlin Workshop in Institutional Analysis of Social-Ecological Systems (WINS) encourages scholars to set up a WINS working group. Such groups usually emerge within WINS or the WINS environment within Humboldt University or from a cooperating research institute. They should

  • be based on members’ common interests and jointly defined objectives,
  • focus on a topic which belongs to, or is closely linked to, the knowledge area of institutional analysis of socio-ecological-technical systems,
  • be established by early career stage or advanced researchers and
  • include at least one WINS Affiliated Faculty.

Participants should

  • be committed to an adequate duration of membership in the group,
  • participate actively in group work and contribute to overall WINS activities,
  • select one or two members of the group as speaker(s).

The WINS website should be provided with

  • a description of group objectives and its members
  • name and contact details of the group speaker(s)
  • information about group meetings and events
  • results of the group updated at least every six months, e.g. by  briefs

WINS working group members will have access to WINS administrative support, WINS courses and the WINS seminar. Scholars interested in establishing a WINS working group should submit a preliminary proposal, including information on prospective participants, to Wiebke Hampel (w.hampel@staff.hu-berlin.de).
